Waxing Is Better Than Shaving? Here’s Why

You’ve heard everything about waxing, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Waxing is one of the greatest hair removal treatments, and we’re here to celebrate it! Waxing offers many great benefits, despite the pain of having hair pulled out of the root. It’s totally worth it to put up with a little rain if you like to see the rainbow at the end: velvety smooth skin with finer regrowth is guaranteed.

When you wax, the hair is plucked from the root, which causes regrowth to seem slower. As a result, your skin will remain smooth during the time it takes for the torn hair follicle to regenerate and the hair shaft to reach the skin’s surface. This entire procedure normally takes three to four weeks, which is the average period between waxing treatments. When you shave, on the other hand, the razor just cuts the hair roots on the skin’s surface.

As you might expect, this is also the same reason why everyone would advise you to avoid using the razor if you want to wax regularly. If you trim hair at the surface, the regularity of hair removal with waxing treatments might be interrupted. At the end of the day, you will see reduced regrowth if you use waxing kits and begin waxing regularly.

Your hair will become sparser in time when you use wax. This is due to the fact that waxing pulls hair from the root, causing the hair follicle to weaken over time. Weak hair follicles create finer, sparser hair. However, genetics still dictates the majority of your hair’s traits, such as coarseness, colour, and growth rate. Expect a gradual transition from coarse to fine in a few sessions. It will take time to notice a significant difference.

Waxing removes the skin’s outermost layer, making it smoother and brighter, but it is not exfoliation. In fact, exfoliating a few days before your waxing session is strongly recommended to prepare the skin for the treatment. Exfoliating on the same day as your appointment may make your skin excessively sensitive. You can wax again a few days afterwards.

Did you realize that shaving on a regular basis causes persistent skin inflammation? The friction from the razor causes irritation and discolouration. The latter occurs as a result of the skin thickening in response to inflammation, and melanocytes (the pigment-producing cells in the skin) becoming more active. The discolouration is more prevalent in those with darker skin, and it can sometimes be an indication of diabetes.

This is a frequent drawback of shaving that may be considerably alleviated by waxing since the skin is less exposed to recurrent friction: only one session a month means less discomfort and even less possibility of developing brown spots. When using a razor, there is always the chance of getting cut, which is amplified when your hands are drenched in foam and soap because you’re inside one of the least safe areas in the house: the shower. When you begin waxing, your skin will be less vulnerable to injury in general.

To avoid ingrown hairs, employ the proper waxing method. The draw must be swift, and the skin must be retained taut throughout the treatment.
